Psalm 18:17 "He rescued me from my powerful enemy"
David got the best-known one when he polished off "9 1/2" foot" Goliath with his slingshot. David vanquished the giant because God was with him, and David, with his loyal heart, realized this.
This is also the way we can get rid of the "giants" in our lives, and we all face them every day; lies, anger, pride, selfishness, and other giant-sized temptations.
For example; Judy had been saving up all of her money to give for a special offering at church. But one day all of her friends were buying double-dip ice cream cones! They looked good. They smelled good. And Judy could tell from her friends that they tasted good! Do you think Judy had a giant to fight? Judy had a choice to make and it felt like a powerful giant temptation; Give in to her desire for the ice cream or hold on to her money that she had already promised to give to God?
And then there was Dan. He loved to play baseball at the park with all of his friends after school. And today was the perfect day for playing. His friends called out to him as they ran past; "Come on Dan! Go home and get your baseball and glove and join us at the park!" Dan was so excited that he ran home and grabbed his baseball and glove and was just about out the door when he heard his little brother crying and pulling on his mothers clothes. His mom looked so tired as she was trying to finish cleaning the house and take care of everything. When she saw Dan come inside she looked so relieved that finally she might get some help!
Do you think that Dan had a giant to fight? If he left now and went to play baseball, his mother would be so disappointed and his little brother would be too! But if he stayed home and missed getting to play then he would be really disappointed! Dan had to face his own giant of whether to put what he wanted to do above what he knew the Lord would want him to do!
David in the Bible could not have killed the Giant Goliath except that He looked to God to help him. When you and I face giants we have to look to God to help us find the strength to do the right thing. God will always help us to be able to conquer our giants of temptation!

Dear Lord, please help me to remember that I can always pray to you when I am facing a "giant" in my own life. I know that nothing is too hard for YOU! I thank YOU that just like David was brave and fearless I can be too, no matter what I am facing. My trust is in you and I believe that Jesus will give me the Victory! Amen!
